After reading customer reviews for the WDs I discovered that changing the stock cable to this cable had worked for some others that had the same problem. I recently purchased 2 1TB WD My DVR Expander external hard drives. My dvrs did not read the WD HDs and I tried over and over with no success. (yes, i too thought this seemed way too easy of a fix) But, YES it worked and both WDs were read the first time. Note: One would think that a company like Western Digital would use a better cable rather than risk having problems.
The connectors fit well. Just upgraded because the esata is superior connection for hard drives. I use it to connect acer aspire revo 3610 to 1tb fantom green drive. Honestly did not see any improvement with the speed over the usb connection, but did not really test it. The cable is thick and not flexible at all, but it works well. Would have bought a cheaper cable but the most important with these cables is the connection and this one fit perfectly as some other reviews for different cables stated that they were having hard time to fit them.
This is the gold standard for Tivo owners using an external hard drive for additional standard. The connection is more solid than the cable included with My DVR Expander from WD.
The product that I had purchased came with a ATA external cable, and that I did not need to purchase a second cable as suggested by amazon.com. Now I own one extra cable that I have no use of.
Bought to use with my Tivo HD and 1TB dvr expander. It works perfectly and havent had any issues with anything at all.
